The Oprah Winfrey Show airs for the last time today, and I’d like to briefly express my appreciation for Oprah and the good people who made this show possible for the past 25 years. I did not grow up watching Oprah and I do not regularly refer to her show in my daily conversation. But I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge how The Oprah Winfrey Show has impacted my approach to things organizational, and otherwise.
It was through The Oprah Winfrey Show that I first learned of the wondrous Nate Berkus, decorator and space organizer extraordinaire. And it was through this television show that I learned organization tips from renowned certified professional organizers, as well as folks like you and me to whom Oprah gave a platform for sharing their wisdom and expertise. After learning tips from Oprah and friends, storage bins and goodies at office supply stores took on entirely new meaning in my life. And for that I’m grateful.
And when Oprah was not talking about all things organizational and logistical, she shed light on a variety of issues and greatly contributed to the national and global conversation. And not surprisingly, now she is embracing the new adventure of running her own cable network. As one who is not a cable subscriber, I will miss the logistical and organizational wonderment that Oprah brought in to my living room from time to time. And I will remain grateful for the many organizational and logistical adventures I have enjoyed as a result of lessons learned from The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Is there a television show, celebrity, or individual who inspires you in achieving your version of organizational bliss? Tell us about them!
